How to make a difference today
We are creating a Wall to Friendship to celebrate 100 years of Reunion and help us invest in adventure at Gilwell Park. Gilwell Park has been a home for Scouts for over a century. It is a place where young people build confidence, resilience, and lifelong skills, and where adult volunteers develop leadership and friendships that last a lifetime. By supporting the Wall of Friendship, you’re helping us keep this historic site safe, accessible, and inspiring for generations to come. Add your name on the Wall When you make a donation, your name will appear on the commemorative mural at Gilwell Park - a lasting tribute to your support for Scouting. There are four giving levels, each recognised with a different font size, so you can choose the impact you want to make. Your gift will directly fund improvements that enhance the experience for every visitor, from young people discovering adventure to international guests sharing Scouting traditions.
Here's what you need to know:
- Each name can be up to 40 characters long.
- Names can represent an individual, a couple, a family, a Scout group, a company, or a Trust or Foundation, provided the name fits within the 40-character limit. (e.g., “John Smith”, “The Smith Family”, “John and Jane Smith”, “The John Smith Foundation”).
- Supporters are responsible for ensuring the correct spelling of names.
- No profanities are permitted, and Scouts reserves the right to exclude a name if it is not appropriate.
- Once the Wall of Friendship is in place, names cannot be removed or edited. However, the charity reserves the right to remove a name if circumstances arise that conflict with our values or could negatively impact the charity’s reputation.
- We cannot include messages or phrases such as “in memory of,” but you are very welcome to include the name of a loved one.
- If you are making a donation in honour of another living person (or people) then you have sought their consent, or are acting on their behalf and genuinely believe they would be comfortable with their inclusion.
- Your payment is a charitable donation, not a commercial purchase of advertising space.
- The font size of names will be determined by the donation tiers.
- The appeal will run throughout 2026, and donors will have the opportunity to add their name during Reunion 2026.
- You can make your donation as a one-off gift or contact fundraising@scouts.org.uk to set up a Direct Debit. All donations must be paid in full by 31st March 2027.
- By participating, your name becomes part of a commemorative mural celebrating the 100th anniversary of Reunion and agree to your name being included on the wall, and on any publicity photos of the wall. We anticipate the Wall of Friendship will be in place for the 101st Reunion in 2027.
- The Wall of Friendship will be located at Gilwell Park, Chingford, London, E4 7QW.
- The Wall of Friendship will be in place for a minimum of 10 years from Gilwell Reunion 2027.
- We will do our best to keep the Wall of Friendship looking beautiful. However, we cannot be held responsible for accidental damage, natural wear and tear, or issues beyond our control (such as vandalism or weather damage).
- If the Wall of Friendship needs to be repaired, we may need to temporarily remove or permanently relocate the names. If the physical wall has to be retired in the future, we will aim to preserve it in a digital format on our website.
